Bad Day for Shows Tuesday 10th

1. Julie had to go home an hour early as was feeling sick. :(

2. 45 minutes after scheduled start there is no sign of Ivana :(

3. Sasha is again scheduled to do only 1 hour show. :(

Viruses are a problem but most knowledgeable users have anti-virus software installed to stop them before they do any damage. They are also wary when visiting sites that are new to them and have their anti-virus software set to catch online viruses.

Tanya has been using a computer and network for sometime now and therefore should come under the knowledgeable user class. I am in that class and have not been infected, well I can't remember when the last time was. It was in the distant past.

The only viruses that might catch them out is the unknown ones sent via email and we all have spam catchers and know not to open emails from unknown sources don't we.

These are some precautions that all users should be taking.

It is a pity that there will be no shows from Tanya's flat until they have flushed it out and re-installed but hey it will not be long until they are back.

Very true im sure they do know this, but you need a PHD in anti virurs software to use the fookers!!
Dr Norton for EG, will pop up a warning when you go to use a program stating high med or low risk, and ask if you want to allow the program access to your computer. Well unless you know what SUG.exe Systerm32.exe and many other, you feel you should block them as norton say they are high risk. geeez they even warn you they update sever is high risk and ask if u want to block it....southpark

I think over time all the girls have used Tanya's computer, so who knows how the virus got on therehammersmas
I still think it was Jamie's back log of e-mails jamming the systerm:)

I must say I'm always surprised when I hear about viruses also. They are not easy to get if you have any sense. I cannot remember ever being infected. I've not even bothered updating my AV for about a year (not that I condone this behaviour).

There are two simple rules: Run an AV program. Don't download and run a tiny program with an .exe extension.

Given the nature of this business I might expect some hacking attempts and would see firewall/router and blocking methods as a more significant issue, but certainly not viruses!

/edit: and in answer to Hawl, I still use old Norton 2002. No pop-ups, no user intervention whatsoever. It can be that simple. As far as other users are concerned, yes, this is a valid point and there is a very easy solution - Tanya has admin/install rights on her user account, every other user has there own non-admin account. It's not difficult for admin to define what a user is permitted to do. All this (hardware and software) should be provided, installed and maintained by company IMO.

Also it would help if Tanya stored the movies and stuff off the system disk on a second disk so they could rebuild the system if needed without having to jump through hoops to try to save them before a rebuild. Disks are cheaper than lost revenue from lost movies.

I am surprised this was not already being done, as we have been here before.

I am also surprised has happened again as I thought good AV software was installed after the last time.

The weakness in defences needs to be identified quickly and everything possible done to prevent a further attack.

Recorded shows and other important content needs to be uploaded to secure site asap after being made.

she just told me she had to save movies from hard drive....she actually didn't say it was content for here....maybe they have some stuff they downloaded and wanted to save. :wow:

Talking about duplicates again.

I just finished a closer examination of my archived movies for YP and MW and deleted some duplicates I found, this gave me an extra 2GB of storage space at the end! :eek:
And these were just the ones I had not noticed before.

For absolute safety of my downloads, I burn them to data DVDs. DVDs are cheapest storage out there right now.
