Living in San Diego we have many things to do alot of which revolves around the beaches here.
On July 15th, the official U.S. Open Sandcastle Competition will be held. The largest sand castle competition in the US. This is the championship of sandcastle building where the professional sandcarvers vie for the title of Master's Champion. Professional and amateur sand carving teams throughout the U.S. compete in the largest sandcastle building competition with more than $21,000 in cash prizes.

I do not know as I have not tried posting images on this forum.
However, I use another forum that uses same software as this one, [vBulletin] although a later version.
I post a lot of images to it using http://www.imageshack.us/
This site stores your images (free) and gives links to post on forums.

example below

http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/2111/screenshot0013lb.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)

On the other forum the above would show as a thumbnail linking to the full image.

Perhaps the webmaster here could switch on this feature or update

vBulletin Version 3.0.6 to
vBulletin Version 3.0.7
if that is required to enable this feature.

@Nedrick: Usually the reason for using remote image hosting sites such as Imageshack is for when a forum does not provide hosting itself in order to save server space. Since MW does allow its own hosting there is little reason. After all, it is a much more complicated process than just adding an attachment.

Agreed and understood.
The reason I was mentioning this, is that there is no limit applied to the number of image links that can be displayed in one post. In the case of this thread all the sandcastles could have been displayed in the one post, instead of the multiple posts that were required to be made to show all the pictures.

Paris has the Eiffel tower, New York has the statue of liberty, Birmingham the Rotunda !!!

The Rotunda was built in the 1960's and opened in 1965 It stands 265ft (81m) tall with 23 floors overlooking the Bull Ring shopping Centre. It is one of Birmingham's most prominent and original landmarks and has even survived a bombing in 1974. In 1993 it survived the threat of demolition as part of a proposed facelift of the Bull Ring markets.

I'm sure you will agree it's awful blablablab Only if we could come up with a new and cool land mark !!!!!

Birmingham City Football club !

Est in 1875, the people from Birmingham have enjoyed 130 years of football.. hmmmmm WRONG!!! in 130 years Birmingham have only won "1" cup!

yup we won the League cup in 1963.. and thats it

awfulllllllllll

O'well Birmingham might be known as the "2nd City" but we are the "1st Chity" :)

Madinat Jumeriah souk. Souk is in arabic means mall or bazaar.
Meandering paths lead visitors through a bazaar-like atmosphere in which open fronted shops and intimate galleries spill onto the paved walkways.

Its located at Jumeriah Beach road, and near to quite famous Hotel Burj-Al Arab. It mimiced Dubai's heritage and styled to resemble an ancient Arabian citadel. In the extreme right of the picture, you can see Burj Al Arab hotel. In the heart of souk, artificial lake is located and reflection looks really good.
It has
Unique shopping complex
75 boutique shops
23 waterfront cafés, bars and restaurants
Open plazas and nightclub
Airconditioned walkways
432 seat Madinat Theatre

@Joseph: I got it too. If I remember correctly Masha asked the winners to PM her with their email address.

Although, for me, it was the taking part and having a laugh that was the important thing, not the prize. I really want to take some photos of the cool things around here, but alas no time as I feared.

One of the reasons being my house. This is what my bathroom looks like today.... I am wondering why I bothered to clean it first!

this is the Wyland Wall #88 (or whaling wall) named after the artist

it is at the foot of the mid-bay bridge at Legendary Marina. note that these pictures are old, as the Marina doubled in size and Wyland added to it. Here is an article describing Wyland when he was adding on to the mural:

WYLAND TO BREAK OWN RECORD FOR WORLD'S LARGEST MURAL
DESTIN, Fla. -MARINE LIFE ARTIST AND ENVIRONMENTALIST WYLAND is set to break his own world record for the largest painting ever created by one person. THE ARTIST expects to complete a five-acre mural of sea life of the Gulf of Mexico this week in the wake of Hurricane Ivan, which rolled through the Florida Panhandle on Thursday.

The mural, entitled "Marine Life of the Gulf," will encompass the entire Legendary Marina, a 315,949-square-foot (7-1/4 acres) dry storage marina at the south side of the Mid-Bay Bridge on the Choctawhatchee Bay in Destin, Fla. The painting will break the artist's previous record listed in the 1993 Guinness Book of World Records by more than two acres.

Wyland completed the first phase of the project a month after September 11, 2001. In addition to the mural, he created a one-acre flag - the largest painted flag in the world - on the roof of the marina as a salute to the armed forces at nearby Eglin Air Force base. Recently, another 150,023 square feet was added to the facility by Destin-based Legendary, Inc., which owns the property, presenting the artist with an opportunity to break his own world record on the 134,000-square-foot Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, Calif.

"This facility was enormous when I first painted it," said Wyland, who intends to complement the rooftop flag with a gigantic portrait of the planet earth. "When the people at Legendary told me they were doubling its size, I saw it as the perfect opportunity to break my first record mural. I already know it's bigger because my painting arm is twice as sore."

So far, the artist has used more than 10,000 gallons of paint on the Destin mural, which includes life-size humpback whales, blue whales, orcas, and dolphins. He has completed 91 monumental "Whaling Wall" murals in 70 cities around the world as part of the 27-year non-profit arts-in-public-places project. He hopes to complete the last in the series of 100 murals on a 10-mile stretch of the Great Wall of China in 2008.

Bristol will be celebrating Brunel 200 in 2006 after 'Isambard Kingdom Brunel (1806 - 1859)'.

Isambard Kingdom Brunel is the brilliant engineer behind the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge (Clifton, Bristol), the ground-breaking Steam Ship SS Great Britain and the Great Western Railway between London and Bristol . Isambard planned the Clifton Suspension Bridge, over the River Avon, which was completed posthumously in 1864 using chains from his own Hungerford Suspension Bridge.

Geo

The Great Britain, built and launched in Bristol in1843, was the world's first iron-hulled, screw propeller-driven, steam-powered passenger liner.

Here she is pictured with The Matthew, Bristol's replica of a 15th Century square-rigged caravel.

Over 500 years ago John Cabot and his crew set sail for Asia aboard the original Matthew hoping to trade goods and commodities with the people who lived there.

However, he finally arrived on the coast of Newfoundland and therefore was the original discoverer of America, not Christopher Columbus as most people are led to believe.

Today the replica of the Matthew sits proudly in Bristol harbour for all to see.
In 1997 the replica Matthew followed the same course as John Cabot in 1497 and sailed across to Newfoundland. It carried the same number of crew members as the original and took the same and used the same amount of time to complete the crossing.

Joseph you have some great pics as well!
I would think about giving the pirze to Nic for this original idea lol ..
Thanks Santa, Sahs Andy4Masha :) and REST of you :)
We decided to give the prize to Joseph since he made the pics himself and they are nice and tell us about the city.
SO Joseph you can decide which model you want us to shoot for you and we will do it during the month. You can keep it for you only or you can tell us to open it for rest members as well. Anyway it will be posted on member area in 3 months if you decide to keep it only for you in the start :)

Joseph's pics were brillant and would likely win prize in any photographic magazine, but were hardly on the topic of WWW002.
